Ask who actually runs the trip, then check recent independent reviews and confirm the business with the local tourism office. Request the exact camp, boat capacity, inclusions, payment recipient and cancellation terms in writing. Ask for recent bathroom and room photos, not just island photos. Our directory currently includes fictional sample listings; a sample is not a verified operator or a bookable offer.

Both estimates can describe different services. Our September 2026 research records roughly 1 hour for the Buliluyan–Balabac town speedboat, versus about 3–4 hours for the slower Rio Tuba passenger boat. Tour boats may head to a first island or change boats at Bancalaan instead of going to town. Confirm the vessel, landing point, stops and expected duration. Sea conditions and waiting time can extend any crossing.

Facilities differ substantially: a package might use tents, simple huts, shared toilets or rooms with private bathrooms. Ask for recent photos of your exact sleeping space and bathroom, how many guests share each toilet, whether water runs all day, and the cleaning routine. Also confirm bedding, mosquito nets, fans, charging hours and any overnight island changes. Do not assume that every camp matches a premium package's photos.

Sand-fly bites are a recurring complaint in the traveller research. Bring a registered insect repellent suitable for biting insects, such as a DEET- or picaridin-based product, and follow its label for application, reapplication and age limits. Cover exposed skin with light clothing and use an appropriate bed net where needed. No spray guarantees a bite-free trip. Ask your host about current conditions, and seek medical advice for a severe reaction.
